Practice video scripts

3 videos to practice the notes C to G, each one progressing in speed

I’ll make a backing track with these timings which can be used so you don’t have to fiddle around with a metronome!
I’ll try and edit the video so the name of the note appears as it is played.

Video 1 – Level 1

“Let’s play the notes C, D, E, F and G then back down again G, F, E, D, and C”
“We will start nice and slowly and get gradually quicker. See how far you can get, then try again. See if you can get a bit further every day!”
“I will count you in every time we start, and we always start again with C. Each note lasts 4 beats. Ready? 1, 2, 3, C” (play)

Play notes C, D, E, F, G, G, F, E, D, C – play 3 beats each slowly at 60bpm, then name the next note on beat 4, and after each set briefly move it on e.g. “now the same again a little quicker “1, 2, 3, C” and play again at 75bpm, then 90bpm, 120bpm, and 150bpm.

Video 2 – Level 2

Explain the next set of exercises e.g.
“Good! You should have the hang of this by now, so let’s do the same but we’ll only play the notes for 2 beats each, and I won’t remind you what the notes are each time, so remember we play C, D, E, F and G then back down from G, F, E, D, and finish on C”.
Play 2 beats each at 75bpm, 90bpm, 120bpm, and 150bpm.

Video 3 – Level 3

Explain the final section e.g.
“If you’ve come this far, we’re about to get really moving! Each note is one beat each as you go up from C, but we’ll pause on the G, then play the notes down from G for one beat each, pausing on the C, and do the same again! So that’s (sing in rhythm) C, D, E, F, G…, G, F, E, D, C…, C, D, E, F, G…, G, F, E, D, C…, then I’ll count you in again as we speed up a bit! Ready?”

Continue at 1 beat each at 75bpm, 90bpm, 120bpm and 150bpm.
