Once you’ve learnt the rhythms, you can play along to Rock around the Clock at any time with this backing track:
(video clip of the backing track of the tune, with a count in)
Here are the words to sing or clap to learn the rhythms, and then think of as you play the rhythms:
One, two, three o’clock, four o’clock rock,
Five, six, sev’n o’clock, eight o’clock rock,
Nine, ten, lev’n o’clock, twelve o’clock rock,
We’re gonna rock, around, the clock tonight,
gonna Rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3)
gonna Rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3) gonna rock (2, 3)
gonna Rock, gonna rock, rock around the clock tonight (2, 3, 4, 1) rock rock!
When you play along, just think of the “2, 3” each time – these are “rests” i.e. you don’t play them!
If you already know lots of notes you can have a go at playing the tune – here is the Rock Around the Clock sheet music.
